Being from South Carolina, I love mustard based BBQ sauce. I used to be able to buy it at Publix down here in FL until Maurice Bessinger went and got all racist on us and it got pulled from every store in the country. I pored over cookbooks and found a great recipe, but that's just too freaking much trouble. I finally found an easy way to make a good sauce that works well for pulled pork bbq. I'll do the entire recipe for how to make pulled pork soon, but for now for all of you who already know what to do with the sauce, here's a simple way to make enough for a medium sized boston butt (pork loin).
1 18 oz. bottle of your favorite red honey bbq sauce (if you don't have the honey bbq sauce, use honey mustard or add 1/4 cup honey)
8 oz (1 cup). prepared yellow mustard (NOT deli mustard, just plain yellow)
2 ozs. (1/4 cup) apple cider vinegar
All you've gotta do is mix this up together, and it makes a pretty damned good mustard based sauce. You can add some hot spices like cayenne or black pepper to taste, but the sauce and mustard have most of the other spices you'll need.
Enjoy!
